Haul - Simple Skincare and gift with purchase

In a previous post I mentioned that Dischem had a Beauty Fair sale that ended on 16th March. I picked up my Bionike moisturizers and sunscreen and received excellent free gifts. There where a lot of brands at discounted prices with free gifts.

I have been using and loving the Simple Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner for a while now. Since my bottle was almost finished and it was on sale, I had to pick up another bottle. The Simple products where marked down and there was a gift with purchase. The gift was a free packet of 7 mini wipes with every Simple product purchased.

I purchased two bottles of Toner and a bottle / tube of the Refreshing Facial Wash Gel. Both the face wash and toner normally sell for R59. It was on sale for R39 each and I received 3 packets of mini wipes for the three Simple products I purchased. What a great deal! Now I did not need to by any wipes that I normally buy on a monthly basis.

Haul - Bionike Moisturisers & Sunscreen with GWP

Dischem had a Beauty Fair sale with lots of discounted prices and free gifts on a wide varienty of brands / products. The sale ended on 16 March 2014.

Both my Bionike Sunscreen and day time moisturiser had practically finished at the same time. If you follow my blog, you will know that I adore Bionike skincare. On the first day of the sale, I rushed to Dischem in my lunch break. Fortunely for me, the catalogue showed a special offer on Bionike products.

Buy online

If you bought two Bionike skincare products, you would receive a free Slingbag. If you purchase a third Bionike skincare product, you receive a free Acteen Quickpen or Bionike Eye Cream of your choice. This offer excluded cleansers & Toners. Well, I was all over that special offer...

Products Purchased:
Bionike Defence 100 Protective and Reinforcing Base Cream
Bionike Defence 200 Ultra-protective and Reinforcing Base Cream
Bionike Defence Sun 50+ Very High Protection Sun Spray Lotion

Bionike Defence 100 Protective and Reinforcing Base Cream

Bionike Defence 200 Ultra-protective and Reinforcing Base Cream

Bionike Defence Sun 50+ Very High Protection Sun Spray Lotion

Free Items:
The Stylish Slingbag (shown in catalogue picture above, which I like and have used already)
Bionike Defence Elixage Contour Eye Lip Balm

Bionike Defence Elixage Contour Eye Lip Balm

The offer was to get a free eye cream of your choice, so of course I chose the most expensive one. The eye cream alone cost about the price of my purchase put together. I have a dry under eye area. It also comes with a spatula, and is a thick luxurious cream.

I am very pleased with my purchases and my free gifts. The Base 100 cream was only R99. The Base R200 cream was R129 an the Sunscreen was R175 as it was 200ml spray bottle.

I also bought Simple skincare products at Dischem (Toner & a gentle cleanser) which I will do a separate post on.

Bye for now.

Empties: Body Care - products I have used up

Hi

This is the final empties post. I posted one for Haircare, Facial Skincare and Makeup. This one is for Body Care products.

Good Stuff Refreshing Clean Hygiene Hand Wash

Hand wash is a staple in my monthly shopping basket. I really enjoyed using this one and plan to repurchase although I have been trying different ones.
Good stuff, the skincare company. Rooibos, lemongrass and ginger. Cuts grease reduces odour. Shake hands, high-five & keep on hugging. Spread love, not germs

Garnier Mineral Deodorant in Sensitive

I always repurchase this one in Sensitive. Garnier has since changed the packaging slightly and I could not find the sensitive one. So I took the one labelled "Fresh" These Garnier roll on's dry quickly, and do what they are supposed to do. I will continue to purchase them.

Avon Care Glycerine Hand & Nail Cream

it is quintessential that I keep hand lotion in my draw at work. The hygene soap in the bathrooms are really harsh on my hands and leave them feeling dry and parched. This tube lasted me really long and it did nourish my hands. I am currently using another Avon hand cream (a silicone one).
So far I prefer the glycerine one better.

Johnsons African Nurture Body Cream

I love using creams in winter and lotions in summer. This was the right consistency for winter, but I still used it on my feet only in the warmer months. It has a pleasant smell maybe because it has has Shea butter and honey in it. I would like to see what other variants are available.

Empties : Haircare - products I have used up

Hi

This empties post is only about haircare products. I have done one prior for make up and one for facial skincare. I will also do one for body skincare.

Lennon Bergamot-essens (Essence)

I have blogged about this product before. I first purchased it because a hair dresser told me what it does for damaged hair. I was sceptical at first but OMW it really works. My hair is not damaged any more and it is growing like wild fire. You pour half the bottle into your shampoo and the other half into your conditioner bottle. I also like the smell very much. It retails between R27 and R30.

Dr. Miracles Conditioning Shampoo

I bought this shampoo because I wanted something that would cleanse my hair, but not strip the hair. It was gentle enough (but not too gentle) and I liked the way my hair felt after using this, not dry like other shampoos leave the hair. I also added the Bergamotessens to this shampoo. It was worth it and would like to try other products in the range.

Dove Hair Therapy Nourishing Oil Care Shampoo & Conditioner

I purchased this as a value pack in Dischem for about R45, which was well worth it for a 40ml shampoo and a 180ml daily treatment conditioner. I enjoyed using this. The treatment conditioner was nice and thick for instant deep nourishment. It is meant to smooth roughness and frizz which I think it does.

Marc Anthony Oil Of Morocco Argan Oil Treatment

I have been a fan of Moroccan Argan Oil since it first came out. It just gives my hair that extra nourishment it needs before blow drying or ironing with out any greasy oiliness. The hair also seems to stay frizz free for longer. I have tried other brands of Moroccan oil. This one was R99. I have purchased the Moroccan Argain Dry srpay oil (will do a review later). I am planning on purchasing another brand on sale in Dischem at the moment for R39.95 50ml.

Livon Silky Protein Detangling Hair Fluid

I found this randomly while standing in the queue at Gorimas and decided to try it. It must have cost about R45 or so. It has lasted really long since you only need a drop. It looks like a typical hair serum but it isn't. Applying this to your hair directly after ironing your hair, makes a huge difference. It kind of repels frizz and leaves your hair smooth. My daughter has long hair, and she has a habit of not leaving the conditioner on long enough to nourish the hair. Therefore her hair gets dry and frizzy. I use this on heir hair after ironing it, and I see the difference instantly. I must remember to add it to mu shopping list.

Empties: Facial Skincare - products I have used up

Hi

I have accumulated a lot of empties since I have not blogged in a while. So I have decided to split my empties posts into different categories. I have already done one for makeup items that I have used up. This one I will concentrate on Facial Skincare. Two more will follow being Haircare and Body Skincare products.

Bionike 50+ Defence Sun Very Highy Protection, Sun Spay Lotion - sensitive and intolerant skin

This is my Holy Grail sunscreen. I used to use the cream (far left tube) but now I use the spray lotion. I like both but love the spray more. The cream is more for winter when my skin is dry. The spray I can use all year round over any moisturiser. The bottle lasted me at least a year and I got it on sale. I have purchased the bigger 200ml bottle this time around.

Bionike Defence 100 Protective and Reinforcing Base Cream.

As you can tell, I love Bionike products. I have raved about them before. They might say its for Sensitive skin, but all skin types will love it. This works so well with the Bionike sunblock mentioned above. I use this most of the year round (Spring, Summer and Autumn). I have repurchased this already along with the Bionike Defence 200 Base Cream which I will use during winter when my skin is drier.

***Dischem currently has their sale on. When you buy two Bionike products, you get a free bag. I love mine and have used it already. If you buy a third product, you get an eye cream of your choice free. I chose the most expensive eye cream of course. Cant wait for my current eye cream to finish so I can use the Bionike one.***

Simple Soothing Facial Toner
Garnier Pure Active Daily Cleansing Gel Wash

I love the Simple Toner and my skin loves it. It has no alcohol in it, but still does its job. I use it after my facial cleanser. I have repurchased this a few times already. I always decant some into a spray bottle and spray it onto a cotton pad. I love using it like this and I don't use too much toner this way. It retails for R59 at Dischem. At the Dischem sale, you can purchase it for R39 and receive a pack of free Simple mini wipes. Sale ends 16 March 2014.

Garnier Pure Active Daily Cleansing Gel Wash contains salicylic acid and purifying Zinc (two of my favourite ingredients. Salicylic acid helps to stop pimples before they even decide that they want to surface. It kills the bacteria in other words. I use this with my facial cleansing brush.

Khiels Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution

I blogged about this after my sister and I went halvies and bought this. I really enjoyed using this. I like serums more in the winter time when my skin is dry although this can totally be used all year round. I think it was worth the money and my skin did feel better and look brighter in the morning when I woke up. I might repurchase in the future, for now I have so many samples of serums which I will finish first.

Clarins Instant Eye Makeup Remover

I received a travel size as a gift with purchase. Mine is now finished. You have to shake it to mix the white liquid with the blue liquid then dispense some onto a cotton pad and hold it over the eye for a few seconds, then wipe away your eye makeup. A very nice product. I have grown to love Clarins products, and the travel sizes are 3 quarters of the size of their normal products. Clarins are also very generous with their samples.

Clarins Multi-Active Night Youth Recovery Comfort Cream
Another Clarins travel size gift with purchaase that I adored so much, I bought the full size (in the glass jar). My skin loves it. It has all the right anti-aging stuff in it. No fragrances that normally irritate my skin. I feel the difference in my skin when I wake up in the morning. It is supposed to be for normal to dry skin, although my skin is combo in summer, I still love it. The salicylic acid in my cleanser does dry out the skin, so a good moisturiser like this is absolutely welcome.

Dischem Softi 10% Pure Corron Pads

I had to mention these. I have tried lots of cotton wool and I must say that I hate the rolled up cotton wool and I do not like like the cotton balls either. I have tried other brands of cotton pads but they don't feel right, or they tear. I always repurchase these. Fluorescence free cotton pads 80 pieces pure and gentle. Both sides of the cotton pad have different patterns on it, which makes a difference to me when I apply to my face. It is always on sale in Dischem. R12.95 for one pack or two packs for R19.95. Sometimes you even get three packs for that price.

Ponds Perfect Colour Complex Naturals Gentle Exfoliating Facial foam
Clicks Aloe Vera Omega 3+6 Facial Scrub
I like to use a salicylic acid cleanser in the evening and a mild cleanser in the morning. I used this up and I quite liked it. It was not too mild (I use very mild cleansers in the morning in winter). This one left my skin feeling like it removed all the dirt and oil but my skin was not stripped. My skin was left comfortable. It has a cream consistency but is very foamy, which I like.

The Click facial scrub, I used only about twice and forgot about it, but my daughter devoured the rest of the tube. As you can see the tube is out of shape because of the way she squeezed it. She obviously loved it. It was only R29 in Clicks.

Empties : Makeup - products I have used up

Hi There

Since I have not blogged in a while, I have accumulated quite a bit of empties. So I have decided to split up my posts. One will be makeup, haircare, body products and facial products. This post will be all about makeup.

Clarins Everlasting Foundation - 110 Honey

This is my Holy Grail foundation which I have purchased over and over and use practically everyday. I am looking for a cheaper foundation for everyday, so I can make this one last a bit longer, but the drug store does not make it as good as this unfortunately.

Revlon Age Defying Moisturising Concealer

I have had about three tubes of this excellent concealer. It covers up under eye circles soo well. It has been said that it is better than the Mac Pro Longwear concealer in you tube videos. It brightens up my under eye and conceals well. HOWEVER, it has been discontinued. Isn't it annoying that once you find something you like, they discontinue it? How annoying!

Clinique Airbrush Concealer

Not a fan of this product and I don't think I will repurchase. It has a brush tip just like the Touch'e Eclat. It is supposed to illuminate and perfect which I don't see it doing. Maybe if it had more coverage, I would have liked it better.

Essence I love Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara
Essence I Love Stage Eyeshadow Base

I have spoken about these two products before and I will keep on repurchasing as long as they make them. Budget friendly and worth it.

Mac Prep+Prime Lip Base

This is supposed to be a lip primer. The lip primer I had before this one was excellent and I was on the hunt for a new one since the old is no longer sold in stores. This product is over priced in my opinion and it is nothing more than a glorified lip balm. The only time you feel any results is if you apply it and wait like 15 minutes for it dry out on the lips, then apply a lipstick. This is the only way for your lipstick to last a little longer. I want to put my primer on, apply my lipstick and run out the door, not wait. I am currently trying out another lip primer.

Smudge 2-in-1 Eyebrow Fix Pencil

Eyebrow pencils are something I am always on a hunt for. When I test them out and they are "hard", I don't think twice about leaving them behind. I have repurchased this one a few times. Although my hair is dyed black, the shade Blonde is not too light for me surprisingly. A shade darker would be too dark on me. I apply the wax end of the pencil first, which allows the colour end of the pencil apply more smoothly. Then I brush through my brows with the brush that is attached. Smudge is exclusively sold in Clicks. I also have a gel eyeliner pencil from Smudge as well.
